Virginia Ironside is a regular columnist at The Independent and The Oldie. In her early days she wrote a rock music column for the Daily Mail before emerging as one on Britain’s foremost Agony Aunts. Over a 50-year career she has been a contributor to Woman magazine, Sunday Mirror, Sunday Telegraph and Today.
She is the author of over a dozen books, including: Chelsea Bird: confessions of a sixties chick; her memoir of growing up - Janey and Me; No! I don't Want to Join a Book Club! No! I Don't Need Reading Glasses! and her latest Yes! I Can Manage Thank You!
In 2013 she took to the stage with Growing Old Disgracefully, based on her book of the same name and which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival; the following year she did another stint at Edinburgh to sell-out audiences. She is continuing to perform her one-woman show to delighted audiences alongside her writing career.
“Virginia’s become, effectively, a stand-up comedian. Her show is really funny. I urge you to see it...” Arthur Smith on Loose Ends BBC R4
