Ruby Wax is well-known for her extensive comedy and television interview career. Born in the USA, Ruby came to the UK and later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company followed by 25 years on BBC and Channel Four writing and performing her own shows such as Don't Miss Wax and Ruby Wax Meets. She did many one-woman shows, many directed by Alan Rickman, and edited Absolutely Fabulous.
Her memoir How Do You Want Me? (2002) was critically acclaimed and reached the Sunday Times best-seller list. In 2013 her Sunday Times number 1 bestselling book Sane New World: Taming The Mind was published and she continues to tour a hit theatre show of the same name. Her third book Wake The **** Up - A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled is due to be published in 2016.
Ruby has studied Psychotherapy and gained her Master’s degree in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Oxford University. She promotes understanding of the brain and campaigns for greater mental health awareness and de-stigmatization. In April 2015 it was announced that Ruby will be awarded an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to mental health.
