A world first for 2018 - Alison Jackson

Wed 13 Dec 2017 by Catherine

In an exciting start to 2018, Lakin McCarthy is delighted to present a world first, as British BAFTA and multi award-winning artist Alison Jackson takes to the stage of the Soho Theatre with her first ever stage show, SHOT TO FAME.

Jackson’s international reputation as a photographer, film maker and artist explores the cult of celebrity as created by the media and publicity industries. An incisive, funny and thought-provoking commentator on the burgeoning phenomenon of contemporary celebrity culture, she comments on the public's voyeurism, the power and seductive nature of imagery, and on our need to believe.

In SHOT TO FAME, Alison reveals behind-the-scenes secrets capturing the moments that the rich and famous (and Boris Johnson) hoped to keep firmly behind closed doors. Fake news or alternative facts? You decide.

Set to the backdrop of her photographs and videos, Jackson tells the story of how she created a hilarious fake reality about the 21st Century obsession with celebrity. She gives the inside track on how she shapes her shoots, crafting celebrity lookalikes to capture the sort of ‘private’ moments that we’ve all imagined, but never seen before.

This timely and provocative show explores our own relationship with fake news and media’s power in shaping our perceptions. Don’t miss it: 15th January, 12th February and 19th March.

EXTRA DATES ADDED!  16 April, 14 May, 11 June.
